AdvoCATS’ garage sale to raise money to fund its spay and neuter clinics is planned for Saturday.
Call Roberta at (415) 218-8523 to donate items for the sale, now through Friday.
Signs from Lako Street and Royal Poinciana Drive will direct bargain hunters to the sale.
Saturday volcano rain forest tours begin Saturday
Volcano Art Center is offering Niaulani Rain Forest guided tours from 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays, beginning May 19, at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.
These weekend tours are formatted the same as the Monday Niaulani Nature Walks but geared toward better accommodating residents’ schedules and visitors driving from the leeward side of the island. The 1/7-mile trail is an easy stroll. Participants should prepare for rain as mist is characteristic in the area. No reservations are required but are requested for groups of five or more people.
Attendees learn of the historic importance of the Niaulani Rain Forest, the basics of Hawaiian rain forest ecology and the evolution and traditional uses of native plants and animals.
